Adapting WBL to the post-covid era

Re-thinking WBL through the provision of a solid framework for transforming traditional VET schemes into virtual Work-Based learning experiences of the highest quality

Do you know what WBL is?

Work-based learning (WBL) is an educational approach that emphasizes the integration of practical work experience into traditional classroom learning. It involves structured activities in which students or VET learners become more familiar of the real work settings through active participation in its dynamics. Work-based learning programs can be found at all levels of education, from secondary schools to already well-established positions. Here are a few examples of work-based learning

Internships

Students work for an organization in a field of their choice, gaining practical experience and applying what they have learned at school or university.

Apprenticeships

This is a training program that combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. Apprenticeships are typically associated with vocational training for technical occupations.

Cooperative Education

Students alternate between periods of in-classroom study and remunerated work experience. This approach allows students to gain practical experience while still progressing towards their certification or degree.

Job Shadowing

Students follow a professional in their field of interest to gain an understanding of the daily tasks and responsibilities associated with the job.
