Highlights from the e-WBL@Home Final Conference in Frankfurt!
On October 30th, the e-WBL@Home Project concluded with an exceptional final conference in Frankfurt, drawing over 30 attendees. This strong turnout reflects the project’s impact and the growing interest in virtual work-based learning (e-WBL).
Alfred Pallarca, Project Manager at the European Association of Institutes for Vocational Training (EVBB), began the event by highlighting the essential role of e-WBL in addressing the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. “The pandemic highlighted the need for alternative ways for VET learners to stay connected to the job market,” he explained. The e-WBL@Home project has been instrumental in ensuring that VET learners continue to thrive in the digital era.
Thiemo Fojkar, IB Chairman, delivered a keynote emphasizing the significance of digital work-based learning in modern VET programs. Following this, Mr. Pallarca presented the project’s four key deliverables: the e-WBL platform and three comprehensive training toolkits designed for learners, employers, and educators.
Prof. Dr. Martin Wortmann, Secretary General of BVMW – Bundesverband mittelständische Wirtschaft e.V., provided insights into BVMW’s successful integration of e-WBL into vocational training. An engaging Q&A session followed, featuring lively discussions on the role of e-WBL as a complement to, rather than a replacement for, hands-on experience.
The conference generated strong enthusiasm from both students and educators, who are eager to pilot the e-WBL platform and contribute feedback for continuous improvement.
